About this compound

About this compound

Thymosin Alpha-1 (Tα1) is a 28-amino-acid peptide derived from prothymosin alpha, originally identified in the thymus (the gland that helps train the immune system). It acts as an immune modulator (it tunes immune activity up or down rather than simply stimulating it).

What it has been researched for

It has a long clinical-research history, including large trials, for immune-related conditions. Mechanistically it increases the number and activity of T-cells and natural-killer cells (immune “soldiers”) and helps balance inflammatory signalling. It is studied as an immunomodulator across infection and cancer-support research.

How it is thought to work

Thymosin Alpha-1 engages innate and adaptive immunity at several points - including Toll-like-receptor signalling - boosting protective immune responses while moderating excessive inflammation.

Regulatory status

Thymosin Alpha-1 is approved in more than 35 countries (brand name Zadaxin) for chronic hepatitis B and as an immunomodulator, but it is not approved by the U.S. FDA or the European Medicines Agency. The material here is an unapproved research compound - not a medicine, and not for human consumption.
